Bromley 1-1 Staines Town
Bromley 1-1 Staines Town

Bromley suffered injury time heartache on Tuesday night as they conceded a 96th minute equaliser against relegation rivals Staines.

The game kicked off an hour late due to the oppositions travel problems and it took a while to get going with Bromley looking the better side.

Albert Jarrett went close with a free kick before The Ravens took the lead on 22mins when Michael Malcolm charged down the Keeper’s clearance and then outpaced the defenders to tap the ball in for 1-0.

Soon after Malcolm & Tutu Henriques had a good efforts saved by James Courtnage before the game evened out. Late on in the half Richard Butler had an effort saved by Joe Welch & Tom Kavangh put the rebound wide, but Bromley held on to the lead.

The second half saw Staines push Bromley back and the home side dropped deeper as the game went on inviting pressure. Malcolm went close for Bromley on the break and Anthony Thomas missed a great chance from close range, but that was The Ravens last real chance.

Kavanagh had a good free kick saved by Welch and former Bromley player Ali Chaaban went close twice before Bromley were reduced to ten men in bizarre circumstances.

Moses Swaibu was shown a second yellow card after returning to the pitch following a change of bloodied shirt with out permission. Deep into injury time Danny Gordon had a header superbly tipped away by Welch before from the following corner the home side’s hearts were broken when the ball was cleared to Chaaban on the edge of the box who hit a sweet volley through a crowd of players into the net for 1-1.

The final whistle followed seconds later and the air of despair around Hayes Lane was palpable.
